Which Nominal Code should I use?

Identifying the code to use

1. Go to the Financial Statements and run the following report:
   
   LIST - for most client types
   CHARLIST - For charities, also see the charhow report for detailed instructions on creating charities
   LP_LIST - For PART99 clients
   
   
2. When the report appears on screen, you will note the code ranges are placed into the sections where the code will appear.
   
   

    TIP: With the document on screen, you can search for a phrase by pressing CTRL+F then type in a phrase, e.g. 'Bank Loan'. Each time you press CTRL+F it will find the next "Bank Loan" text. To change the search words, press CTRL+H on your keyboard.

Searching for a code in posting documents

1. In your posting document, click the magnifying glass.
2. By default, this allows you to search by code number.
3. Click the subheading Description.
4. Type your search phrase, for example 'Bank Loan'.
   
   

    TIP: The Income Statement/P&L range is commonly 1-499 and the SoFP/Balance Sheet range is normally 500-999. The higher the number, the lower it will appear in your accounts.

 NOTE: Please be aware that the Sage Support Team cannot provide you with an "exact code" to post to.

The Support Team can point you towards the LIST reports and clarify that a code should appear in a certain area based on the LIST report. This is incase the Support Team gave you an incorrect code that affects your clients accounts in an incorrect way or causes the output  of the wrong disclosures/legislation.
