Description

There may be instances where you want to view or even retrieve archived data in Sage 50 Accounts.

Resolution

View your archived data

To view the data in an archive once it has been created, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Click File then click Open.
  2. Click Company Archive.
  3. Select the archive data, then click Open.

TIP: Use the same user credentials used when the archive was created, if access rights were set up for the company.

Restore an archive

If you have access to a backup of the archive

  1. Back up the current data, ensuring all options within the Advanced Options tab are selected apart from Company Archives.
  2. Find and restore an All Files backup which contains the archive data.

It does not matter how old this backup is as long as it contains the correct archive.

  3. Restore the backup taken in step 1. As this backup does not contain company archives, the archived data is not overwritten by this restore.

If you don't have access to a backup of the archive

  1. Backup the current data, ensure all options within the Advanced Options tab are selected apart from Company Archives.
  2. Restore the backup taken immediately prior to running the year end. This should be the financial year to which the archive relates.
  3. Archive your data using the Archive Company option, click Tools then click Period End and click Archive Company.
  4. Complete the Archive Company window as required then click OK
  5. Restore the backup taken in step 1. As this backup does not contain company archives, the archived data is not overwritten by this restore.
