Changes to Sage services with TLS 1.0 and 1.1

What's changing?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is an external security protocol, designed to facilitate privacy and data security for communications over the internet.

Some older versions of Sage 50 Accounts use TLS when communicating with the Sage Licence Server to perform licence checks. 

TLS 1.0 and 1.1 have been formally retired, and therefore subject to potential security breaches. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IEFT) set the standards across the internet and now recommends the use of TLS 1.2 and 1.3.

What this means for your software

Our main priority is to ensure we protect your data in accordance with the latest industry standards.

Therefore, we’re aiming to switch off retired versions of TLS on 30 September 2022 for our remaining services, Auto Update and Sage License Server.

If you're using an impacted version, you'll need to upgrade to a newer version of your software. Don't worry, this guide covers everything you need to do.
