To use advanced data import for a new spreadsheet, you must set where your software imports the data. To do this, create an import map.
For example, if column A in your spreadsheet is for employee forenames. Your software only knows to import column A to the Employee Forenames field in Sage 50 Payroll if you map it.

Go to File then Advanced Data Import.
To back up your data, click Backup then follow the on-screen instructions.
Select Next.
Select the appropriate template option for the details you want to import.
Select Next, then select Browse.
Browse to the file that you want to import and double-click it.
Select Next.
If your spreadsheet has multiple worksheets, use the dropdown to select the required worksheet then select Next.
The import map screen appears. Complete the Import Field against the relevant Payroll Field on the table.
NOTE:
Depending on the template you selected in Step 4, some fields are Required. If any mandatory fields aren't on your spreadsheet, cancel the import, add the fields to your spreadsheet then return to Step 1.
Select Save Map.
Enter a File name for your map. Leave the path as it is and select Save.
You've created your map for the spreadsheet you browsed to in the steps above.
You don't need to create a new map if you import a new version of the same spreadsheet in the future. Instead, select Load Map during the data import and browse to this map.
