Communication: Azure virtual machines used for Sage Partner Cloud
Description

This communication was sent 9 March 2026.

Sage 200 Professional (Sage Partner Cloud)

Microsoft has announced it will retire some Azure virtual machines that Sage Partner Cloud deployments currently use.

This update explains what’s changing and the actions you need to take.

What’s changing

From the maintenance window on 15 March 2026, we’ll deploy all new sites, including upgrade sites, on the following new virtual machines (VM) by default:

Current VM New VM
B4s B4s_v2
B8s B8s_v2

Why this matters

Microsoft will retire the current virtual machines on 15 November 2028.

After that date, you won’t be able to use them.

What you need to do

To avoid disruption, you must upgrade any customers still running on retiring virtual machines before this deadline.

Audit your customers
As you can change virtual machine sizes using the Microsoft Azure portal, you need to review your customer base and identify any sites running on retiring virtual machines.

Plan upgrades early
For customers running a retiring virtual machine, we recommend you schedule their upgrade well before the Microsoft retirement date.

If you don’t upgrade, the customer’s site will be unavailable after 15 November 2028.

For partner or developer copies, either upgrade the existing site or create a new site and request cancellation of the old one.
