Before you start We recommend having your Nest login details to hand so you can compare the information on Nest to that in Sage Payroll. The Nest header and trailer records refer to many parts of your pension file. Check the payment source name, dates and group name on Nest match those in Sage Payroll. NOTE: When comparing details between Sage Payroll and Nest, they must be identical. This includes capital and lower case letters, special characters, leading or trailing spaces. Check the payment source and group then retry First, log into your Nest account and check the payment source name and group name in Nest match those displayed in Sage Payroll. For help with doing this, contact Nest. If the names don’t match exactly, change them in Sage Payroll. Check and amend the payment source and group name in Sage Payroll - Select Pensions from the menu bar.
- Select Edit Pension.
- To make a change select View / Edit.
If you have more than one group in Sage Payroll, follow the steps below to check each employee: - Select Employees from the menu bar.
- Select the Employee name to open their record.
- Select Workplace pensions to check the group and payment source.
TIP: The group name is in the Pension Plan field. - If you need to change the pension details, select Edit.
- Finally, select Save.
Retry the submission - Select Summary from the menu bar.
- Then select View submission details.
- Finally, select Submit Online.
Issue persists? The same error means the dates or payment frequency on Nest don't match those in Sage Payroll. - If you process a weekly payroll, these run from a Monday to Sunday

- Under Auto Enrolment / Pensions, select View Submission Errors.
- Make a note of the Pay Reference Period dates.
- Align the dates of your schedules on Nest to the Pay Reference Period dates.
Next, log into Nest and check the group payment frequency and earnings period dates on your schedule align to the tax calendar. For help with doing this, contact Nest. If the dates and payment frequency don't match Sage Payroll, then you must create a new group in your Nest Pension account. Once you’ve updated your Nest account, retry your submission. |
