Updates to Quotes and Estimates
Description

We've added new features to Quotes and Estimates in Sage Accounting. These updates give you and your customers greater control and clarity. They also improve communication during the sales process.

 NOTE: To use Quotes and Estimates, Accounting Start customers must upgrade.

Cause
Resolution

When you email a Sales Quote or Estimate, you can include a custom message, attach a PDF, and even send a copy to yourself. Your customer will receive an email with a link to view, accept, or decline it.

Accepted Quotes and Estimates

If a customer accepts, they have the option to leave a message for you. You'll get a notification of this acceptance, showing any customer messages.

When you open the quote/estimate these messages appear as a banner on the screen.

From there, you can proceed to invoice or adjust the quote/estimate as needed.

 NOTE: Changing an accepted quote/estimate will reset its status.


Declined Quotes and Estimates 

Should a customer decline, they can provide a reason. You'll be notified of the decline and see their reasons if they've left them.

When you open the quote/estimate these reasons appear as a banner on the screen.

You can then adjust the quote/estimate or reset its status.


Manually Accept or Decline

If you don't send your Quotes/Estimates to your customers from Sage directly, you can update the status yourself.

You can add an optional note to refer back to, these are private and not shown to the customer. If you create your invoice from the quote, you can choose to show the notes on the invoice. These will carry over into the notes section of the invoice.

Scheduling work

You can now set and track Schedule and Completion dates for your projects. These dates help you manage start and finish times but aren't shared with customers.

 NOTE: Scheduling is unavailable for declined or invoiced projects.

To schedule work:

  1. Open the relevant Quote/Estimate.
  2. Select Schedule from the actions area.
  3. Enter a Start date and Finish date.
  4. Enter an optional Accepted note
  5. Select Schedule

View the new Start work and Finish work columns in the Quotes/Estimates list screen to easily track project timelines.
