More about AI and natural language searching
Answers

Starting in Sage 50 Accounts v30, we have introduced a new AI-powered report search. You can use everyday language to find what you need.

What is everyday language searching?

Everyday language searching, or natural language searching uses a machine learning technique called natural language processing which lets us conduct a search using human language. You can verbalise your search query which is then translated into something understandable for the computer which is searching for results. Due to its conversational nature, it is often referred to as a "conversational search".

Traditional searching methods rely on keywords that often don't match everyone's chosen terminology and therefore don't always yield suitable results. With everyday language searching, keywords are not relied on as your entire sentence or statement is assessed and converted into a search query. Here's an example:

A traditional search could be:

"outstanding invoices."

An everyday language search could be:

"Show me which customers have outstanding invoices right now."

While using everyday language searching, you are leveraging the power of AI to find exactly what you need.

What is AI?

AI, or Artificial Intelligence is at its simplest form a field, which combines computer science and robust datasets, to enable problem-solving. The goal is to streamline processes, automate tasks, and create a connected ecosystem of computers that work together to help humans achieve their goals.

AI is widely used in most industries and is utilised by many high-profile companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Netflix to name just a few.

How we use your data

What data do you store?

The feature stores users’ queries to improve our recommendations and to inform future enhancements to our Machine Learning techniques and processes.

We will also store feedback sent from the Sage 50 Accounts application; both manual and automated.

Example of Manual feedback: You click “Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down” regarding your report recommendation.

Example of automated feedback: You run another query after reports are recommended. This tells us that we didn’t find the report you needed the first time, and we want to learn from that.

Where is my data stored?

We store your data in our cloud-hosted infrastructure in a data centre located in the EU, with modern security measures and access privileges.

How are you using my data?

We use Sage 50 Accounts search data to improve search relevancy and report recommendations.
