Process 2025/2026 P11D benefits early
Description

With Sage 50 P11D, you can get a head start on processing your 2025/2026 benefits by processing them in the v30 - the 2024/2025 software.

When v31 becomes available, you can:

  • Transfer your data into v31
  • Recalculate benefits on the updated legislation
  • When you're ready, submit to HMRC ahead of the 6 July 2026 deadline

We expect to release Sage 50 P11D v31 in early April 2026.

Cause
Resolution

When you add a benefit, you need to enter the dates it was available to the employee. Your software uses these dates to check whether to calculate the benefit.

When you add benefits to v30 with dates in the 2025/2026 tax year, v30 doesn't calculate anything.

When v31 is available and you transfer your data over to it, v31 calculates the 2025/2026 benefits correctly.

TIP:

The 2025/2026 tax year runs from 6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026.

Benefits and expenses

Fully electric cars

For 2025/2026, the rate per mile depends on whether the employee charged the car at home or with a public charger.

When we release v31, this will allow you to set the charger type for the fully electric car entries you make.

Due to this, we recommend you enter fully electric car benefits in v31 when it's available. To find out more, visit the recording the charger type for fully electric car benefits in 2025/2026 article.

You can continue to enter other benefits in v30 as below.

Enter benefits and expenses

You can enter your employees' benefits and expenses into your Sage 50 P11D v30 software. Take care to enter the correct dates that each benefit was available in the 2025/2026 tax year.

For help with entering benefits, visit the Help Centre.

After you process your 2025/2026 benefits, move on to the compact and repair your data section.

Compact and repair your data

It's especially important that you compact and repair your P11D data at this stage. By doing this, your data is organised and ready for when you move into v31.

  1. Log into Sage 50 P11D as normal.
  2. Go to File then Compact and Repair.
  3. Read the message that appears, then select OK to start the process.
  4. When the process completes, select OK.

Next, continue to back up your data.

Back up your data

Take a backup of your P11D data. Before you back up your data, check that you're the only user logged in to the software.

  1. Go to File then Backup.
  2. Select Next and check you've selected Data Files, then select Next.
  3. To select where to save the backup on your computer, select Browse.
  4. Select Next then Finish.
  5. Select OK.
