Changing your HMRC reporting frequency
Description

When you first Set up your Payroll for reporting to HMRC, you enter your reporting frequency.

Once you perform a pay run, it locks the reporting frequency. You can't change this again until the following tax year.

Cause
Resolution

You can only change the Reporting Frequency once you’ve:

  • Completed all pay runs
  • Submitted all Full Payment Submissions (FPS)
  • Submitted all Employer Payment Summaries (EPS) for the current tax year

Complete your entire year-end before changing your HMRC Reporting Frequency.

Change the Reporting Frequency before you complete any pay runs in the new tax year.

To change this setting in your Payroll service, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to the Settings tab.
  2. Select Payroll Settings.
  3. Select HMRC reporting frequency. Choose whether you pay HMRC monthly or quarterly, as appropriate. If you’re unsure, please contact HMRC’s payment enquiry helpline. This option will only be available after you have completed your Year End.
  4. Select Save.
