You can check if an employee has an RTI Pay ID by browsing to: - Employees in the menu bar.
- Select relevant employee from the list.
- Under the heading of Current Tax Details, find the RTI Pay ID field.
If they don't, do one of the following: New starters The employee is a new starter who has moved from another business. Leave the field blank in the employee record. Payroll assigns them an RTI Pay ID automatically. Migrating from another software The RIT Pay ID should be the same in the new software as the old one. This will prevent any disruption with HMRC. Entered the ID when you set up the employee in Sage Payroll. If you have access to the old system, get the RTI Pay ID from there. If you don't know the RTI Pay ID - Create your own employer RTI Pay ID. This needs to be a unique identifier. For example, SO-1. SO-2 etc.
- Inform HMRC that the employees have received a new RTI Pay ID without any change to their employment status. Do this before processing the next pay run.
