The Trial Balance report provides an overview of all ledger account balances at a specific point in time. It ensures that total debits and credits match, helping to identify potential discrepancies before preparing financial statements. This report is essential for verifying financial accuracy and supporting forecasting and analysis.

What's in the report

The Trial Balance report includes:

  • A summary of all nominal ledger accounts
  • Cumulative totals of debits and credits
  • A year-to-date column for comparing balances across periods

Analyse balances

If you need to investigate specific balances, select an underlined balance:

  • If the amount spans multiple accounts or months, the Nominal Activity Summary report opens
  • If it’s a single account for a specific month, the Nominal Activity Detailed report opens

To return to the original report, close the open report or select Back in your browser.

View prior-year profits

The Trial Balance report displays all ledger accounts, including prior-year profits. To see a breakdown of the 3100 nominal code, select the checkbox next to Summarise profit and loss values.
