Error: 'An error has occurred, please try again later' - Online Services
Description

Check you're using the correct email address

This can occur if an email address used for an employee you’re uploading payslips for isn't correct.

Check the email addresses of the employees you're uploading payslips for. If an email address is wrong, remove them from your Online Services first to change their email address.

Upload payslips in smaller groups

Instead of uploading payslips for all employees, select few employees and try uploading this smaller batch instead. If this works, one of the other employee records is causing the issue.

Continue to upload in smaller batches until you can find which particular employee record is causing the error. When a batch fails, split it into smaller batches until you find the problem record.

Check employee names

Another possible cause for this issue is if there's a space in the Name field of an employee's record.

Check the problem record for any spaces before or after your employee's names in their employee records. If there are, remove them then try the upload again.

Check payslip comments

It's possible for you to add 'Payslip Comments' in the analysis tab of employees' records. If you have any invalid characters in this field, this error occurs.

Check the problem record for any special characters in the Payslip Comments field and remove them:

  1. Double-click the relevant employee on your employee list.
  2. Go to the Analysis tab.
  3. Remove any invalid characters from the Payslip Comments field.
  4. Select Save then Close.
  5. Try again to upload your payslips.

Check other companies on Sage 50 Payroll

Check to see whether the same thing occurs when uploading payslips on other companies if you have them on Sage 50 Payroll.

Try on another computer

See whether you can upload payslips without this error occurring on another computer.

Try again later

If after doing all the steps above, the error still occurs, wait and try again later in case the issue is temporary.

If the issue persists after trying all these steps, contact customer support.
