What updates have been made to data security?Sage collects data to help you do more. To do this, we use the data we collect to provide, improve, and develop our products and service. As part of this, we have made improvements to the way your data is collected and stored.
What's changed in Sage 50 Payroll?Today, your payroll data is safely stored in your Sage 50 Payroll database, and this process will continue. To provide you with quicker and easier access to new features and services such as, improved employee self-service capabilities or integration with new third-party services, some of your company’s payroll data is uploaded as part of a Full Payment Submission (FPS) and will be stored at Sage. This has no impact on any of your existing services or features. Most importantly, you remain in control of who your data is shared with. Access to data is strictly controlled and will only ever be shared outside of Sage with third parties with the data owner’s visibility and in line with our current retention practises and procedures.
Is the data secure?Yes. Sage takes data security very seriously. We use the highest security protocols and processes throughout the development cycle and in the live services used by our customers.
What are the benefits of having data in the cloud to Payroll customers? At Sage we have been evolving our products and services to ensure you have access to the latest developments both in technology, and in order you help you meet UK government legislation. Accessing online payslips in the cloud, as well as aligning with RTI in 2013 have all been part of this journey. Storing data in this way enables us to provide you with the very best, and secure product updates.
Is my company's data shared with anyone outside of Sage? Sage will use your data only for purposes that are compatible with providing those services and as a customer, you remain in control of who your data is shared with. Your data will only ever be shared outside of Sage in circumstances that we have made you aware of and in line with our privacy notices.
Will my payroll data be held in the cloud and not on my PC?Your payroll database(s) are unaffected by this; all activities continue as before including backing up and managing your data copies.
Can I opt out of having data stored at Sage? Storing data in this way is essential to the product and services we provide and the value our customers derive. As part of your terms and conditions of use of Sage 50 Payroll you agree for your data to be connected to the product and services and retained by Sage in line with our current retention practices and procedures.
