Proxy servers and Sage software
Description

Proxy servers control the flow of information between networks, typically a local network and the Internet. A proxy server comprises either hardware, software or both.

The main purpose of a proxy server is to regulate access to other networks while maintaining security.

When a networked computer accesses external information, like a web page, it passes through a proxy server that retrieves and delivers the data.

How does this affect Sage software?

With the introduction of Automatic Updates, Sage software accesses web-based resources more than ever before. It's likely that such requests pass through proxy servers.

Enter the proxy server settings in your Sage software. To do this click Tools, then Internet Options, then Network Settings.

TIP: We recommend using the browser settings, although you can enter proxy settings in this window. Contact your IT support for support.

URLs to exclude on a Proxy server

Firewall and antivirus software can interfere when you download and install software. This includes software updates and other Sage services, such as Sage Remote Data Access. Add the following URLs to Windows trusted sites in Internet options, Security, Trusted Sites.

To minimise issues, configure your firewall and antivirus software to permit access to the following URLs.
