| How to clear locks on a backup |
Description | If you try and restore a backup and get an error message saying that someone is still logged into the data in Sage 50 Payroll, you can follow these steps to resolve this. |
Resolution | You can resolve this by renaming some files in the data. Let's do it now: - Ensure the error message is visible on-screen.
- Browse to the data directory. You can check this in Support Information in Help then About.
- Copy "unpak.tmp".
- Paste "unpak.tmp" to the desktop.
- Okay the error message.
- Close the Payroll program.
- Browse to the Payrolls data location.
- Rename the "payroll.mdb" to "payroll.old".
- Rename "unpak.tmp" to "payroll.mdb"
- Copy "payroll.mdb"
- Paste "payroll.mdb" to the payroll data location folder.
- Open the DB Utilities program and clear the payroll locks.
NOTE: If you're creating a new company from a backup, you need to create a new blank company first. You can then restore the backup from within the company, then follow the steps above.
