Enter P46(Car) information for an existing car record
Description

You can use Sage 50 Payroll to create car records, submit P46 (Car) forms and calculate the amount of Class 1A national insurance contributions (NIC) you're liable to pay.

If an employee already has a company car, you can still create a record in Sage 50 Payroll.

Cause
Resolution
  1. Select the relevant employee, click Employee, then click Employee Record.
  2. Click the Cars/Fuel tab.
  3. If you're replacing an employee's car, click the Car Registration drop-down and select the replacement car.
     NOTE: When you replace an employee's car, enter the new car details before you set up the P46(Car) replacement car submission. Create a new car record > 
  4. Under the Cars/Fuel tab, click P46(Car).
  5. Complete the P46(Car) Details window as follows:
    • In the Car Details section, select the P46(Car) Required check box
    • In the P46(Car) Statement section, select the check box that reflects the employee's change of circumstance. If you select Replaced car, click the Car Being Replaced drop-down and select the old car's registration
    • In the P46(Car) Details section, enter the relevant information regarding the employee's private use contribution and fuel costs
  6. Click OK, click Save, then click Close.
