If you haven't already done so, create a new car record for the new vehicle before you can enter P46 (Car) information.
NOTE:
If you use Sage 50 P11D, you can import car records to it from Sage 50 Payroll. However, it's not possible to import cars from Sage 50 P11D into Sage 50 Payroll.

The steps you need to follow depend on whether it's the employee's first car, or you're replacing an existing car. Select the relevant option below to find out what to do:
In the Car Details section, select the P46(Car) Required checkbox
In the P46(Car) Statement section, select the checkbox that reflects the employee's change of circumstance
In the P46(Car) Details section, enter the relevant information regarding the employee's private use contribution and fuel costs
Private use contributions made by the employee (out of their net pay) towards the private use of the vehicle will reduce the cash equivalent value
Some employers place a limit on the value or type of car that they make available to an employee. Occasionally the employer is willing to allow an employee to have the use of a more expensive car, if the employee pays a monthly sum. This payment represents the excess; for example the additional leasing costs over and above the employer’s limit. These payments don't reduce the benefit charge because they don't qualify as payment for the private use of a car under EIM25250. They’re for the availability of a more expensive car.
In the Cars/Fuel tab, click theCar Registrationdropdown and select thereplacementcar.
Click the P46(Car) button.
Complete the P46(Car) Details window as follows:
In the Car Details section, select the P46(Car) Required checkbox
In the P46(Car) Statement section, select the checkbox beside option two, Replaced car. Click the Car Being Replaced dropdown and select theoldcar's registration
