ERROR: 'Nominal Code xxxx has been used as part of one "floating" ...'
Description

When you check your chart of accounts, you can see the following error:

'Nominal Code xxxx has been used as part of one "floating" category range, but not as part of the equivalent "floating" category in Current Assets / Liabilities'.

If a nominal code is both floating ranges in Current Assets and Current Liabilities, the balance sheet shows it as an asset or liability. This is based on its balance.

These messages mean a nominal code exists in one floating category but not the other. For example, it’s in Current Assets but not in Current Liabilities.

Cause
Resolution

To correct this, you need to amend the ranges in the floating category so they’re the same in both Current Assets and Current Liabilities.

Remove the nominal code from the floating range, then add it to the normal category, such as Current Assets.
