Once you've set up Direct Debit Manager in your software, you're ready to collect payments by Direct Debit from your customers. Let's take a look.

There are three stages to collect payments by Direct Debit from your customers:

  1. Request a Direct Debit mandate
    You need to send your customer a direct debit mandate to authorise you to request Direct Debits from their bank account. To do this, you can send your customers an email with a link to a secure payment page hosted by GoCardless.

  2. Request a Direct Debit payment
    Once the Direct Debit mandate is authorised, you can request a Direct Debit payment from your customer.

  3. Receive the Direct Debit payment
    After you request a Direct Debit payment and this has settled, you can view and post the transactions using the Settlements option. During this process, any GoCardless fees automatically post.
