Error: 'Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly component'
Description
Cause

This can be due to the following:

  • Windows isn't up to date
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 isn't installed

To resolve this, you need to check for updates and install .NET Framework. For help with .NET Framework, refer to your local IT support or network administrator.

Resolution

Before following the steps, right click the download installation file and select Run as Administrator. Try the install again, if you still receive the error, follow the steps below.

Check Windows is up to date

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Go to Start, then Settings.
  2. Select Update & security, then Windows Update.
  3. Click Check for updates.

Windows 8 and below

  1. Press the Windows key + R.
  2. Enter wuapp then select OK.
  3. Click Check for updates.

If updates install, check for updates again to ensure there aren't any further updates.

Enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

  1. Press the Windows key + R.
  2. Enter control panel then click OK.
  3. Click Programs, Programs and features.
  4. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  5. Select the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 check box then click OK.
  6. If prompted to download files, select Download files from Windows Update.
  7. Ensure you close all programs then click Restart now.
Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1

Depending on your Internet browser, the file automatically downloads to your Downloads folder or you're prompted to save the file.

  1. If prompted to save the file, make a note of the file name, browse to where you want to save it then click Save.
  2. To run the installation, follow the on screen prompts.
