Rebooting your machine First of all, please wait a few moments before running the installation again. Allow enough time for any background installation processes to complete. If you're still getting the 1618 error, please reboot your machine in the first instance. This is usually enough to resolve the issue in most instances, but if you have a dedicated server, please check with your local IT before rebooting. Disable and re-enable the Windows installer service - Ensure you are logged into Windows as a user with full administrator privileges.
- Press the Windows key , type Computer Management then press Enter.
- Double-click Services and Applications then double-click Services.
- Right-click Windows Installer then click Properties.
- In the Startup type drop-down choose Disable then click OK.
- Restart your computer.
- Follow steps 2 - 5 but this time in the Startup type drop-down choose Manual
- Retry the installation again.
Terminating any remaining installer processes If the issue persists at this stage, you may wish to speak to your local IT support, but you can check for any remaining installer processes: - Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, click Task Manager then click the Processes tab.
- End any of the following processes by highlighting them and click End Process.
- msiexec.exe
- installshield
- install.exe
- Retry the installation again.
If you've reached this stage of the article and none of the above steps have worked, please speak to your local IT support to find out which package is being installed that is currently blocking the install or upgrade of your Sage software [BCB:19:UK - Sales message :ECB] |
