Common reasons for missing transactions
When you can't find a transaction in the Bank Reconcile window this is due to the following reasons:
- Date - The transaction date doesn't match the reconciliation period
- Wrong bank - The transaction is entered against the wrong bank account
- Transaction type - The transaction is not a bank transaction
- Grouped transactions - The transaction is grouped with other transactions. Find out more in our handy guide on Bank transaction grouping
- Reconciled already - The transaction is already reconciled
Don't worry, this is normally easily resolved by following the steps below.
Why your transaction doesn't show
To identify why a transaction doesn't appear in the Bank Reconciliation window, in Transactions locate the transaction(s) that should be appearing, then check the following columns:
- Type - Ensure it's a bank transaction. Only bank transactions appear in the Bank Reconciliation window
EXAMPLE: BR, BP, CR, CP, VR, VP, SR, SA, SP, PP, PA, PR, JC or JD
- Account / Nominal - Ensure it's the correct bank account. The bank reference appears in either of these columns, depending on the transaction type. The Bank Reconciliation window only displays transactions for the selected bank. If a transaction is posted to the wrong bank account, use our Correct transactions guide to edit the transaction to the correct one
- Date - The date of the transaction should be on or prior to the reconciliation date. If the date of the transaction is wrong, use our Correct transactions guide to edit the transaction date
- Amount Paid - If the date and reference are the same as other bank transactions, then the transactions may be grouped together in the bank reconciliation window . If the transaction is grouped, only the total value of the grouped transactions appears in the Bank Reconciliation window and this won't be the same as the Amount Paid column in the transactions or financials window. Find out more in our handy guide on Bank transaction grouping
- Bank - Check the reconciliation status in the Bank column
The Bank column may display one of the following:Bank column | Description |
---|
R | The transaction has already been reconciled. |
N | The transaction hasn't yet been reconciled. |
- (dash) | The transaction isn't applicable for bank reconciliation.
|
To appear in the Bank Reconciliation window, the transaction should be N, as only transactions that have not been reconciled appear in the Bank Reconciliation window.
If the transaction shows R or '-', this is why it isn't showing.
Next steps
