Why don't transactions appear in the bank reconciliation window?
Description

Common reasons for missing transactions

When you can't find a transaction in the Bank Reconcile window this is due to the following reasons:
  • Date - The transaction date doesn't match the reconciliation period
  • Wrong bank - You used the wrong bank account for the transaction
  • Transaction type - The transaction isn’t a bank transaction
  • Grouped transactions - Find out more in our bank transaction grouping article
  • Reconciled already - The transaction is already reconciled
  • Foreign bank revaluation journals - Created when you complete the Foreign Bank revaluation wizard

This is resolved by following the steps below.

Why your transaction doesn't show

To find out why a transaction doesn't show in the Bank Reconciliation window, locate the transaction in Transactions and check these columns:

  • Type - Ensure it's a bank transaction. Only bank transactions appear in the Bank Reconciliation window. For example: BR, BP, CR, CP, VR, VP, SR, SA, SP, PP, PA, PR, JC or JD
  • Account / Nominal - Ensure it's the correct bank account. The bank reference appears in either of these columns, depending on the transaction type. The Bank Reconciliation window only displays transactions for the selected bank. If a transaction uses the wrong bank account, use our correct transactions article to edit the transaction
The bank activity window from Sage 50 Accounts, highlighting the type, account, nominal, date and amount paid columns.
  • Date - The date of the transaction should be on or before the reconciliation date. If the date of the transaction is wrong, use our correct transactions article to edit the transaction
  • Amount Paid - If the date and reference are the same as other transactions, then they group together in the bank reconciliation window. When transactions group, only their total value appears in the Bank Reconciliation window, differing from the Amount Paid column in the transactions or financials window. Find out more in our bank transaction grouping article
  • Bank - Check the reconciliation status in the Bank column
The Bank column may display one of the following:
    Bank column Description
    R The transaction's reconciled.
    N The transaction's not reconciled.
    - (dash)

The transaction isn't applicable for bank reconciliation.

Only transactions that aren't reconciled show in the Bank Reconciliation window.
If the transaction shows R or '-', this is why it isn't showing.
