Install Sage Accounts Production on a network
Description

Before you install, you should check that your computers and server meet the recommended system requirements.

When you install using a network installation you need to configure the install to deploy onto a folder on the server.  You can then install the software on each client computer.

If you intend to use Sage Accounts Production in a network environment and the data will be held on a server, before you install the new software, you must ensure you have full admin access to the server folder locations. If your IT support is handled by a third party you may need to contact them to make any necessary arrangements.

Installing the network version

To download your software

  1. Double-click the downloaded file, then click Run.
  2. Click Install Accounts Production, then click Next.
  3. Select Network Configuration, then click Next.
  4. Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next.
  5. On the Location of Client List , Browse to where you want to store you client list files on your server. On LocatioOf Client Datasets,  Browse to where you want to store you Datasets files on your server. 
    TIP: If you're performing an update to a network install enter the Client List Path and the Default Data Path that you currently use.  
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Application Destination Folder enter the path where you like the server install to be located for example, \\servername\Sage Accounts Production\Install. Make a note of this path as you need it later.
  8. Click Next, then check your settings are correct.
  9. Click Next, then click Finish.
Now you've set up your server for the install you need to install the software on each client computer.

 


Install the software on each client computer

  1. Browse to the destination folder you made a note of at step 7 in the previous section.
  2. Double-click the Setup.exe file.
  3. Click Next, then select one of the following options:
    • Workstation - Select this option if you want to install on a computer that stays in the office.
    • Laptop - Select this option if you want to install on a laptop you want to take out of the office. You can still work with your client data while disconnected from the network.
  4. Click Next.
    We recommend you use the default location. However, if you want to change it, click Browse, and browse to where you want to install your software, then click Save.
  5. Click Next, check the information is correct, then click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. If you're upgrading from an earlier version, repeat the steps in this section until your software is up to date, on each computer you want to install the software.

Activate your software

  1. Open Sage Accounts Production.
  2. Enter your Sage account number and your postcode.
    You can also enter your serial number if you have it available.
  3. Click Licence Now.
  4. If you want to postpone licensing the software, click Licence Later. There's an initial 30-day trial period of the software when you install it for the first time.
