Sage 200 Report Designer - How to align text, variables, lines and boxes

Select the required objects in Report Designer
  • Report Designer > click the first object you want to select > hold down the Ctrl key > click each remaining object you want to select in turn.

    TIP: To select a single object, click the object.

You've now selected the required objects and can align, resize or centre the objects as required. For further information about this, please refer to the following sections.

Align selected objects
  1. Report Designer > select the objects you want to align.

    NOTE: Note: For further information about selecting objects please refer to the previous section.

  2. Format menu > choose Alignment > choose from the following options:

    TIP: Tip: The object selected first appears with white boxes; all other objects appear with grey boxes.

    Left Aligns all objects horizontally to the left-hand side of the object first selected.
    Right Aligns all objects horizontally to the right-hand side of the object first selected.
    Centres Aligns all objects horizontally to the centre of the object first selected.
    Top Aligns all objects vertically to the top of the object first selected.
    Bottom Aligns all objects vertically to the bottom of the object first selected.
    Middle Aligns all objects vertically to the middle of the object first selected.
    Grid The objects selected snap to the nearest grid corners when using the snap to grid setting.

You've now aligned the selected objects, and should make any further changes you require to the document and save your changes. For further information about how to save the amended document, please refer to the section To save the changes to your document later in this article.

Make objects the same size

NOTE: The Make Same Size option only works when two or more items are selected.

  1. Report Designer > select the objects you want to make the same size.

    NOTE: Note: For further information about selecting objects please refer to the section To open your document in Sage Report Designer and select the required objects.

  2. Format menu > choose Make Same Size > choose from the following options:

    TIP: The object selected first appears with white boxes all other objects appear with grey boxes.

    Width Makes all other objects the same width as the object first selected.
    Heights Makes all other objects the same height as the object first selected.
    Both Makes all other objects the same height and width as the object first selected.

You've now made objects the same size, and should make any further changes you require to the document and save your changes. For further information about how to save the amended document, please refer to the section To save the changes to your document later in this article.

Centre an object
  1. Report Designer > select the objects you want to centre.

    NOTE: Note: For further information about selecting objects please refer to the section To open your document in Sage Report Designer and select the required objects.

  2. Format menu > choose Centre In Section > choose either Horizontally or Vertically.
    The selected objects are centred either horizontally or vertically within the current section according to your selection.

You've now centred objects and should make any further changes you require to the document and save your changes. For further information about how to save the amended document, please refer to the section To save the changes to your document later in this article.

Save the changes to your document
  1. Report menu > Report Properties > enter a new name and description for the document > OK.

    Report Designer v1.3 and below - Report Explorer pane > select the document name > Properties pane > Name > enter a new name for the document > Enter.

    TIP: You can check your Report Designer version in Help > About > Application > File Version.

  2. File > Save As > File name > enter a new name for the document > browse to the required location for your document. 
  3. Save > File > Exit.

You have now saved your amended document.

TIP: If you have any difficulty finding a recently saved document, you can open it from the Report Designer Recent files list and save it to the required location.
