Answers to common questions
What you've been asking us...
When amending the border width or style of a box, why are the changes not applied?

If you add a box to a report or layout and then amend the width or style of the box in Properties > Border, the changes may not be applied. This happens if you don't specify which borders you want to change. The Modify Border window can be used to change each border individually, so you must specify which borders your changes should apply to.

To apply a width or style change, in the Modify Border > Preview area you must remove the existing borders and add them back on with the new properties.

  1. Report Designer > select the box > Properties > Border > finder button.
  2. Style > choose the required style > Width > choose the required line thickness.
  3. Preview area > click the button to remove the top edge of the box > click it again to add the new style border > repeat for the other 3 edges of the box > OK.

TIP: If required, you can modify just some of the edges, for example, the top and bottom only.

NOTE: If you re-open the Modify Border window, the line width appears as 1pt. This happens because the Modify Border window automatically shows the default line width, however your previous settings are still applied.
