Statutory absence and payments
Description

There are three simple tasks to follow when you record statutory pay and leave:

  • Enter the information about the employee's absence
  • Check the automatically calculated payment and pay anything else due

NOTE: Sage 50 Payroll calculates statutory payments up to and including the process date, as required by HMRC.

  • Check if you can reclaim any of the statutory payment using the P32 report

You can keep track of how many payments you make to each employee, which stop automatically when the relevant limit is reached. Let's take a look.

Small employers' relief

All employers can reclaim some, if not all, of the statutory maternity pay (SMP), statutory paternity pay (SPP), statutory adoption pay (SAP) and shared parental pay (ShPP) that they pay to employees.

If you're classed as a small employer, you can reclaim 100% plus 3% in small employers' relief. Otherwise, you can reclaim 92%.
