If you haven't already decided which label you want to use, it's best to select the standard label that is already closest to what you need. Sage 200 contains customer, supplier and stock labels by default.

Set up your labels

  1. Open the label in Report Designer
  2. File menu > Page Setup > Size > ensure the correct paper size appears

If the paper size you need is not available you may need to set up a Custom paper size through Windows Forms within the Devices and Printers area

Orientation > choose Portrait or Landscape

Printer > choose the correct printer

  3. Format menu > Labels & Forms.
  4. Preset label size > in the drop-down list, if the type of label stationery you are using appears on the list, choose it
  5. If your label stationery does not appear in Preset label size, choose Custom > click Advanced.
  6. Holding your stationery landscape or portrait as required for measurements, complete the Advanced label settings as follows(ensure the measurements are taken as accurately as possible to avoid 'creep' on the labels when printing):

The unit of measurement used on the label is held within Tools > Options > Measurement. You can change this if required, for example, from inches to millimetres.

Number across Enter the number of labels across the page.
Number down Enter the number of labels down a page.
Left margin Measure the distance from the left edge of the paper to the left edge of the first label > enter this into the Left margin box.

Note: If you are using dot matrix labels, the left edge is the perforation that separates the sprocket holes from the stationery.
Top margin Measure the distance from the top of the paper to the top of the first label > enter this into the Top margin box.
Width Measure the width of a single label > enter this into the Width box.
Horizontal pitch This value is the width of the label, including any gap between labels. Measure from the left edge of the first label to the left edge of the next label across > enter this into the Horizontal pitch box.
Height Measure the height of a single label > enter this into the Height box.
Vertical pitch This value is the height of the label, including any gap between labels. Measure from the top of the first label to the top of the next label down > enter this into the Vertical pitch box.
  7. Click OK.

You have now amended your label layout to fit your labels.

You can also change the information that appears on each label. Common label amendments are adding variables, text and images.
