| Quickly search for records |
Description | There are lots of ways to search your data for specific information, the fastest is by using the quick search function, which is available in most modules. NOTE: The Quick Search option has been improved in v29 to allow you to search against any information held within the record and can now be found within drop-down lists. |
Resolution | Apply a search- Open the required module, for example, Customers.
- In the Search box enter the name or value you want to locate and click the spyglass or press Enter.
Any records containing the text you searched for are now listed. - To switch between your search and all records, to the left of the Search box click the filter funnel.
- To clear your search, click the Clear filter option .
NOTE: To remove the search in v29, use the bin icon.
Search tips- When searching in Customers and Suppliers, in the top-right corner, the Standard view must be selected, not Chase debt or Manage payments
- The search checks all of the available data fields to view as columns in that module. It doesn't search other modules
In v29, the search checks all the data fields held with the records - The search isn't case sensitive and looks for all the characters entered. For example, a search for John Smith returns records that include John Smith but not those containing John or Smith in isolation
- When searching for dates, use the format DD/MM/YYYY
- Deleting the search criteria from the search box will not revert the list to the default view. To remove the filter, click the Clear Filter button
- To broaden your search, you can use the following wildcards:
Wildcard | Search results |
---|
* | Use the asterisk if you want to search using part of a name or value. A search for ab* will return all records with content beginning with ab. | ? | Use this for single characters in a search. A search for ST?001 will return STE001 and STU001. |
