Internal only: *** Do not amend this article via KCS ***. Assumptions: The BI Server, BI Client and BI Excel Client programs have all been installed (with the Windows User logged on as a full Administrator).
Note: In this example we will be looking at BI in combination with Sage 200 v2009 release version and the machine used is the Server machine on the network.
1) User logs on to the machine with a standard user log on, opens up Sage200 and attempts to run any BI report -> receives exception: "Access to the path – C:\Program Files\Sage\Sage200\IALibrary\Connections\Sales.con is denied."
Solution: Give user Access rights to the IALibrary sub-folder.
2) User logs on and again attempts to run any BI report -> receives error message: “Failed to link to database”.
Solution: SQL Analysis Services – the user cannot “see” the relevant analysis services database. Access the 'Security' section of the Analysis Services area (right-click and choose Properties) -> add this User to “Members of server role”.
3) User logs on and again attempts to run any BI report -> Report runs Ok, but the main body of the report is “empty” and there are no figures shown.
Solution: Logged on ITS as issue no. 2116. The BI Server and BI Client installs have been installed for All Windows Users, but the BI Excel Client install has only been installed for the User who was logged in at the time (normally the Administrator). What you should find is that if you log on as a different User and look in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel the BI Server and BI Client will be present but the BI Excel Client will be missing. The only current workaround would be to give this User Admin rights temporarily, log on again as that User and install the BI Excel Client separately (Note: On the v5.1 version you may be prompted to ‘Repair or Remove’ -> choose ‘Repair’). [Once installed, the Admin Rights could then be removed from this User].
