You should only perform a manual backup if you can't use the Backup option in Sage 50 HR.

The following steps contain everything you need to help you manually backup or restore your Sage 50 HR data.

Perform a manual backup
Stop the services
  1. Windows key + R > type services.msc > OK.
  2. In the right-hand pane, right-click Sage 50 HR Service > Stop.
  3. Right-click SageMySQL > Stop.
  4. File > Exit.
Copy the shared folder
  1. Windows key + E > browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage.

    Windows 7 or Windows Vista - Windows key + E > browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage.

  2. Right-click the HR folder > Copy.
  3. Browse to your chosen backup location, for example, the desktop > right-click > Paste.
Copy the MySQL folder
  1. Windows key + E > browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sage.

    If you're using a 64-bit operating system, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage.

  2. Right-click the MySQL folder > Copy.
  3. Browse to your chosen backup location, for example, the desktop > right-click > Paste.
Restart the services
  1. Windows key + R > type services.msc > OK.
  2. In the right-hand pane, right-click Sage 50 HR Service > Start.
  3. Right-click SageMySQL > Start.
  4. File > Exit.
Restore a manual backup

You can only restore a manual backup if you already have Sage 50 HR installed and your data is stored locally on your computer.

Stop the services
  1. Windows key + R > type services.msc > OK.
  2. In the right-hand pane, right-click Sage 50 HR Service > Stop.
  3. Right-click SageMySQL > Stop.
  4. File > Exit.
Copy the shared folder
  1. Browse to the location where you stored your manual backup > right-click the HR folder > Copy.
  2. Windows key + E > browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage.

    Windows 7 or Windows Vista - Windows key + E > browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage.

  3. Right-click HR > Rename > type HRold > press Enter.
  4. Right-click > Paste.
Copy the MySQL folder
  1. Browse to the location where you stored your manual backup > right-click the MySQL folder > Copy.
  2. Windows key + E > browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sage.

    If you're using a 64-bit operating system, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Sage.

  3. Right-click MySQL > Rename > type MySQLold > press Enter.
  4. Right-click > Paste.
Restart the services
  1. Windows key + R > type services.msc > OK.
  2. In the right-hand pane, right-click Sage 50 HR Service > Start.
  3. Right-click SageMySQL > Start.
  4. File > Exit.
