Check the Windows user
To confirm this issue isn't caused by the Windows logon, create a new Windows user and try installing again. If the error still appears, you must create a temporary drive for the missing drive letter to be able to install Sage software.
Create a temporary drive
You can create the missing drive by allocating the missing drive letter to a USB flash drive:
- Insert the USB removable storage device.
- Press and hold down the Windows key and press E.
- Check the drive letter allocated to the USB removable storage device.
The next available drive letter is automatically allocated to the USB removable storage device.
- If the missing drive is allocated, proceed to step 11.
If any other drive letter is allocated proceed to the following step.
- Press and hold the Windows key and press R.
- In the Open box, type diskmgmt.msc then click OK.
- Right-click the USB removable storage device and click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
- Click Change and select the Assign the following drive letter option.
- From the drop-down list, select the missing drive from the error message. E.g. C.
If the message refers to a different drive letter, choose the relevant letter from the drop-down list.
- Click OK and Yes to confirm.
- You can now install the Sage software.
NOTE: Do not install the software to the new drive you've created.
Once the installation has been successful, the USB flash drive can be removed as normal.
Update system registry
If you're unsure how to complete any of these steps, you must speak to your IT support.
- Back up your Registry.

- Type Regedit then click OK.
- Browse to the following folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows| CurrentVersion\ Explorer\User Shell
- In the right panel, search for entries that list the incorrect drive.
- Modify the incorrect drive to point to C:\.
